PV module dismantling equipment · frame removal → junction box → glass

01

Why this stage comes after dismantling, not before it

There is a well-established alternative route in which modules go straight to size reduction and everything is separated afterwards from a mixed granulate. It is a legitimate engineering choice with a smaller footprint and fewer stations, and it is the right answer for some plants.

What it cannot do is give you clean aluminium and clean glass, because both are contaminated from the moment the frame goes through the mill alongside the laminate. If those two streams are where your revenue comes from, dismantling comes first and reduction comes after — on material that no longer contains a frame or a junction box.

What the stage contains

  • Size reduction. Reduces the delaminated sheet to a handling size, with extraction sized for the dust this step generates.
  • Screening. Splits the reduced material by size, which separates a large part of the glass from the finer cell and encapsulant fraction.
  • Magnetic separation. Takes out ferrous contamination — usually from frames, fasteners and site debris rather than from the module itself.
  • Eddy current separation. Recovers non-ferrous metals such as aluminium fragments and copper remaining in the stream.
  • Density or air separation. Separates lighter polymer and encapsulant from heavier glass and metal fractions.
  • Containment and collection. Sealed transfer and collection points, plus weighing per output stream.

Dust and fines are the real specification

Every separation stage on this site is judged by what it produces, and every one of them produces fines. Fines block transfer points, they escape to the floor if extraction is undersized, and they change the composition of whatever stream they settle into.

The practical requirements are unglamorous: extraction at each break and transfer point, sealed collection rather than open bins, transfer geometry without ledges where material accumulates, and maintenance access so that cleaning is a routine task. A separation stage that is difficult to clean will be cleaned less often than it needs to be, and that shows up as a falling output quality rather than as a machine fault.

Which fractions do you need to produce?

Send us the output specification you have to meet — or the buyer's requirements if you have one. Separation configuration follows from that, not from a catalogue.

FAQ

Questions

Should solar panels be shredded or dismantled first?

If your revenue depends on clean aluminium and clean glass, dismantle first. Frame and junction box removal keeps those streams separate, and there is no economic way to un-mix them after reduction. If your outlet is a mixed-fraction processor and footprint or capital is the binding constraint, a reduction-first route can be the right choice.

What comes out of the separation stage?

In broad terms a glass-rich fraction, a metal fraction, a polymer and encapsulant fraction, and a silicon-bearing fraction containing the cells. The exact split and the purity of each stream depend on the equipment configuration and on what the downstream buyer will accept.

How is dust controlled?

By extraction at every point where material is broken or transferred, sealed collection instead of open bins, transfer geometry that does not trap material, and maintenance access that makes cleaning routine. It is designed in, not added afterwards.

Can this stage run independently of a dismantling line?

It can, and some operators buy only this stage to process material that has already been dismantled elsewhere. In that case the incoming material specification matters more than anything else, because the separation settings depend on what is already in the feed.

Send us the module mix and the through-put

Tell us what arrives at your gate and what has to leave. The engineering team replies with the station configuration, the scope boundary and the information still missing before drawings start.

  • Modules — framed single-glass, double-glass, frameless, thin film, mixed
  • Condition — intact, or a meaningful share damaged or bent
  • Through-put — modules per hour or t/h, and your shift pattern
  • Output — which fractions you sell or store, and to what specification
